Administrative Order 94-4: Provision of Court Security Services to the District and Magistrate Courts in Canyon County

Whereas there is an established record of violent incidents which have occurred in the various courts and court offices of Canyon County and which have endangered the public safety, and

Whereas special security precautions have been taken for the past several months by the Canyon County Sheriff's Department on Thursday mornings in the magistrates division which have proven effective in stemming the occurrence of violent incidents, and

Whereas the Canyon County Sheriff has notified the Trial Court Administrator that the aforementioned security services on Thursdays will no longer be provided as of July 14, 1994, and

Whereas Idaho Code section 31-2202 provides in part that the Sheriff shall "[a]ttend all courts, including the magistrate's division of the district court when ordered by a district judge, at their respective terms held within his county, and obey the lawful orders and directions of the courts,"

Now, therefore, it is hereby ordered that the Canyon County Sheriff shall continue to provide the customary court security services to the Canyon County Magistrates Division on Thursday mornings and at such other times and places as may be deemed necessary by this Court, or in the alternative that all courts in Canyon County be attended by the sheriff whenever in session.

Dated this 13th day of July, 1994.
