Administrative Order 94-8: Assignment of District Court Civil Cases

Whereas it has been the custom and practice in the Third Judicial District that civil cases in the District Court are not assigned to a judge until a trial setting is made, and

Whereas the administration of justice in the district would best be served by the random assignment of civil cases at the time of filing, and

Whereas ISTARS has the capability to automatically and randomly assign cases upon filing,

It is hereby ordered that the Clerks of the District Court in the Third Judicial District shall begin randomly assigning civil cases upon filing in the district court by means of the judge assignment program in ISTARS commencing on January 3, 1995.

Dated this 20th day of December, 1994.

Signed by Dennis E. Goff, Administrative District Judge
