Administrative Order 95-4: Assignment of District Court Criminal Cases

Whereas it has been the custom and practice in the Third Judicial District that criminal cases in the District Court are assigned to a judge conducting the arraignment, and

Whereas the administration of justice in the district would best be served by the random assignment of criminal cases at the time of filing in the case of indictments or otherwise at the time the case is bound over from the magistrates division, and

Whereas ISTARS has the capability to automatically and randomly assign these cases in equal numbers to the judges,

It is hereby ordered that the Clerks of the District Court in the Third Judicial District shall begin randomly assigning criminal cases in the district court either upon filing or bindover as may be appropriate by means of the judge assignment program in ISTARS commencing on May 1, 1995.

Dated this 28th day of April, 1995.

Signed by Dennis E. Goff, Administrative District Judge
